German-speaking speech stage notes

General rules of the German word pronunciation of the word stress:  

1. German Word Word accented on the first syllable.  

for example: Abend , Bruder , gehen , zeigen , Mutter , Eltern , Klasse , Techniker 

2. A few German words accented on the second syllable.  

for example: wohin , darum , zurecht , gem u tlich , April , hinweg 

3. In compound words, generally the first word with the primary stress.  

for example: Hochschule , Lehrbuch , Klassenzimmer , Landkarte , Deutschkurs 

4. Loan words accented on the last syllable, a few on the penultimate syllable.  

for example: Student , Akzent , Benzin , akut , Adresse , Kollegen , Praktikantin 

5. The word stress in words with unstressed prefixes on the stressed syllable of a Word.  

:besuchen , erzählen , versprechen ,  u bersetzen , zerstören 

6. Abbreviations in the last letter read.  

for example: USA , BRD , DDR , DGB 

7. -ieren-final syllable of the word stress in-IER of foreign words.  

for example: studieren , markieren , adoptieren , deponieren 

German sentence intonation:  

1. Describes the word stress generally falls on the last word of a sentence, tone down at the end.  

Ich bin Dieter Baumann . 

Mein Name ist Hans Kittmann . 

2. Special interrogative sentences intonation decline in General at the end of a sentence, sentence stress generally falls on the verb if tone end up, is to ask, or express a more polite tone,  or express something of special interest.  

Wie geht es Ihnen ? 

Wie heißt das hier auf Deutsch ? 

3. General questions rising intonation at the end of a sentence, sentence stress generally falls on the last word of the sentence.  

Sind Sie Herr Schmiedt ? 

Heißt das hier auf Deutsch Tisch ? 

4. Similar to exclamatory sentence and intonation in declarative sentences and intonation.  

5. Sentences connected by oder first rose and then dropped. Sentences before the Oder as a rising intonation, followed by sentences reduced.  

6. A set of things, the last read.
